Allianz General Insurance Malaysia’s coverage will now also include a mandatory disinfecting process for accident vehicles brought in to panel repair workshops.
Given the Covid-19 and Movement Control Order (MCO) situation, each vehicle is thoroughly disinfected twice; when it first arrives at the workshop for repairs, and again once repair works are completed. Moreover, the vehicle’s interior is also cleaned before the car is released to its owner.
According to Allianz General’s head of claims Damian Williams, panel repair workshops also sanitise their premises at least twice a day, which also includes common areas and the customer waiting area. Workshop employees are also strictly adhering to the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) safety standards, practicing high hand hygiene and safe distancing while at work.
“Government measures and vigilance will be vital as we move forward with our lives during this pandemic period. There are a lot of new habits and practises that we have to put in place to help prevent the spread of the virus in our communities. And this is one of the ways we, as insurers, can play our part in the prevention and control of COVID-19.”
“Some may call it an added service, but for us, it is more of a necessity to uphold our promise to always keep our customers and panel workshop employees safe. We use government-approved disinfectant solutions and the whole process takes approximately 10 minutes for each vehicle. Plus, it is a bonus that the process is so easy to incorporate into our repair service, with no effect on our turn-around time,” added Damian.
Prior to the MCO, Allianz General says they receive an average of 130 accidents reports per day nationwide, with 70 percent of those cases occurring in the Klang Valley.
While that number dropped to an average of 40 accident cases per day during the MCO, Damian expects the numbers to rise once the Conditional MCO (CMCO) ends on June 9.
“Once we get back into the full-swing of things, we expect to see a rise in the number of vehicles needing repairs. Our panel workshops will continue these disinfection services and maintain this as our standard procedures as long as it is needed,” said Damian.
