ALLIANZ Malaysia Bhd held eight road safety campaigns across the country in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri to remind Malaysians to stay safe while driving during the festive break.

The campaigns took place in Sibu, Sarawak; Batu Pahat, Johor; Kota Kinabalu and Tawau in Sabah; Temerloh and Kuantan in Pahang, and Kuala Lumpur.

The company gave away 30 sets each of first-aid kits, safety hammers, shoulder pads and windbreakers to motorists.

It also distributed 150 pieces of visibility enhancing materials (VEMs) during the campaign.

“We target these campaigns around festive seasons because an increased number of vehicles on the road heightens the probability of accidents.

“The campaign was aimed at promoting road safety because many road accidents are the result of behaviour-related causes,” said Allianz4Good head Ng Siew Gek, which is the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.

“During the distribution, our employee volunteers explained the functions of each road safety item.

“For instance, windbreakers and VEMs are essential for motorcyclists to keep warm and be visible on the road.

“The safety hammer functions as a torchlight, beacon light and seat-belt cutter, which can come in handy in the event of a breakdown or accident,” added Ng.

Allianz Malaysia offers a 24-hour complimentary accident service to its Allianz Motor Comprehensive policyholder.

The Allianz Road Rangers service features a 24-hour call centre, a bike brigade, tow truck service, claims assistance at police stations, quick claims approvals and vehicle delivery, among other services.

The company has advocated road safety since 2011 through various initiatives.
